The blood pressure (BP) is strongly associated with the age-specific mortality rates for stroke, ischemic heart disease, and other vascular diseases.  According to the World Health Organization, high blood pressure is responsible for 10 million deaths every year,  which means 1 out of every 5 deaths is associated with high blood pressure. Over 80% of the deaths caused by raised BP is preventable if BP is monitored and controlled properly.
At Smart Sensors Lab, we are developing a non-obtrusive medical device for continuous BP measurement, particularly focused on personalised healthcare and smart interventions (drug-device combinational therapies).
